Kristyn & Matt had a stunningly beautiful wedding during a perfect, Pure Michigan fall. The Blue Dress Barn, outside of Benton Harbor, Michigan, is a gorgeous venue with the perfect spaces for getting ready, ceremonies, and receptions. I love all-in-one locations because I get to spend more time with the couple and their bridal party and less time in my car. Kristyn’s vision for her wedding day was a glamorous jeweled peacock theme that meshed seamlessly with the rustic elegance the Blue Dress Barn provided.
I always encourage my brides to sit and put their own shoes on; it is such a quiet, special moment as the last piece of her ensemble is added.
Isn’t Kristyn’s ring amazing? The rows of peridot gemstones leading up to her halo center diamond are so subtle yet beautifully personal.
Kristyn’s bouquet was made up of dozens of jewels and broaches that she had thrifted and collected in the year leading up to her wedding. Tracy Park of Park Place Design wove them together into a lovely piece that she will be able to treasure for decades and decades after traditional live florals would have died.
Kristyn & Matt planned to not see each other before their ceremony, but they did want to say hi. Sneaking them into a quiet corner for this not-quite first “look” was a lot of fun.
After guests were seated in the ceremony location at the side of the barn, Kristyn had to get from the getting ready room to the back of the ceremony site without being seen. Chinese paper umbrellas and a bevy of helpful bridesmaids got the job done in the most creative way!
Rodney Page from Full Engagement Experience not only provided the pre-ceremony music, but later gave one of the best reception experiences I have ever seen. He played the violin throughout dinner along to popular songs, DJ’d a fantastic party, and even gave the newlyweds an improvised rap and beat box when the party heated up.
This cupcake display smelled – and tasted! – as good as it looked!
It was such a pleasure being a part of Kristyn & Matt’s beautiful wedding. I had to end on one of my favorites.
